iOS and Android
Getting started
Set up Komorebi, grant only the necessary permissions and take your first photo.
Prerequisites
- iOS 18 or Android 8
- Physical device with a camera
- Available space in the media library
Choose your starting pointNew
On first launch, onboarding lets you choose viewfinder guides. In How do you want to shoot?, choose a set of shortcuts or I want a custom experience to add, remove and reorder controls. The creative set is selected initially.
- I want professional controls: manual controls, file format, aspect ratio, timer, flash and settings.
- I want creative controls: LUTs, aspect ratio, Live Photo on iOS, timer and settings.
- I want the app’s signature features: LUTs, Image Stacking on iOS, projects, weather and settings.
- Settings stays in the bar. Presets organize shortcuts; features still depend on device and platform support.
Take a tour of the cameraNew
On the last onboarding step, Would you like a tour of the app? is enabled. After you finish, the tour introduces available shortcuts and the main camera controls. Turn it off if you prefer to explore on your own. To revisit onboarding, use Settings → About and support → Review introduction.
Permissions
Camera access is required for preview and capture. The Photos library allows saving images, opening the built-in gallery and deleting a photo when you request it. Location is optional and is used to write GPS to EXIF and query weather and locality.
- If you deny camera access, the main experience will not open.
- If you deny Photos access, the app cannot save or load the built-in gallery.
- If you deny location, taking photos remains possible, but GPS, weather and maps are limited.
Take your first photo
- Open the app and allow Camera and Photos access.
- Choose the rear or front camera and, when available, a physical lens.
- Frame your shot, adjust exposure or zoom and tap the shutter.
- Open the gallery thumbnail to check the image and available metadata.
Organize camera shortcuts
In Settings → Control bar, choose which controls appear and reorder them. The TopBar accepts up to eight controls, including Settings, which cannot be removed.
- Controls incompatible with the active camera may not appear or may be unavailable.
- Preferences are saved locally on your device.
